DIY Fall Design Tips for Your Curb Appeal

With fall weather just around the corner, it’s a great opportunity to set up the outside of your home with fall decorations. Sprucing up your replacement windows and doors with some fun DIY projects can be the perfect way to begin the season and get prepared for scarves, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.

Step up your curb appeal this year with these fun décor projects that are easy, new and on-trend:

Project #1: Corn Husk Garland
This project will add fantastic curb appeal to your home’s windows or doors, depending on where you want to place the garland. Wherever you end up putting it, all this project takes is a few straightforward steps: cut rope to your desired length (outlining your windows or door) with a few added inches to get a droopy effect, and stick corn husks to the rope with a hot glue gun. Display your new garland to highlight your home access points!

Project #2: Door Wreath
Incorporate all the warm colors of fall into a DIY wreath to hang on your door. You’ll need a wooden stick wreath, burlap, artificial fall foliage, scissors and a glue gun. This is what you’ll do: Cut the burlap into four 4x4-inch squares. Then, fold and glue the burlap squares around the wreath while gluing foliage in between the burlap squares.

Project #3: Welcome Sign
Creat an inviting feel to your home this fall with a blackboard “Welcome” or “Happy Fall” sign on your door. Remind passersby what the season is really about and draw attention toward your festive fall entryway.

And while creating unique and colorful outdoor decorations is a simple way to get into the season spirit, remember to prepare your replacement doors and windows for the cooler weather, too. They may look fantastic, but if your doors and windows are aged or unprepared for the approaching winter weather, they could let in cold drafts and leave you feeling pretty uncomfortable in the upcoming months.
