Basement Windows

Windows can make your basement appear more pleasing and boost safety. Large basement windows, sometimes referred to as "egress windows," from Pella of Lewes are made to allow more light into underground areas than the older, smaller, rectangular windows that sit above ground. They also give you a way out in case of an emergency.

The biggest differentiator between basement, or egress, windows and standard windows is that basement windows have to be made for an average-sized person to make it out in order to meet safety requirements outlined in building codes. You can pick from correctly sized casement, sliding or double-hung windows when you put in basement windows. Be sure you fully understand local building codes before you purchase basement windows.
